Originally from Adelaide, Hugh relocated to Melbourne in 2004 and has become firmly entrenched in the Melbourne music scene.  A versatile sideman, Hugh is a member of Julien Wilson’s “B for Chicken” quartet, the James Annesley Quartet, Motion, Paper Plane, ATM15, the New Melbourne Jazz Orchestra, the Darrin Archer Trio, and the Carlo Barbaro Quartet, and performs regularly with Flap!, The Pearly Shells, Anton Delecca, Tom Vincent and Peter Combe.  Hugh’s career highlight to date was opening for the Branford Marsalis Quartet on their 2010 Oz tour, performing with Leigh Barker and Tom Vincent, and sitting in with Branford at the Sydney Opera House, and later at 505.  In 2011, Hugh was a semi-finalist in the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz drum competition.  Hugh has toured extensively in Australia as well as Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Scotland and Thailand, and attended the Banff International Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music led by Dave Douglas in 2010.
