In The Permanent Underground: Australian Contemporary Jazz in the New Millennium asks why, when our jazz musicians are so prized overseas, jazz remains a permanent underground? His answer is a National Jazz Plan to raise the profile, increase the audiences, lift income levels and enhance career pathways.
